Reports of shots fired turned out to be from airsoft/BB guns on Monday.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Eighth Avenue Northwest around 10:10 p.m. to a report of shots fired, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

Officers parked several blocks away and surrounded the residence. A man exited holding what appeared to be a large caliber pistol and officers told him to drop the weapon and get on the ground. As officers approached a second man came out with what looked like a large caliber gun in a holster on his waist. He also complied with officers to put the gun on the ground and get down.

Both men were handcuffed and detained, but officers learned the weapons were airsoft/BB guns. No citations were issued, although officers told the men the guns were not allowed in the city of Austin.

One of the men was taken into custody for a warrant outside of Faribault for driving after revocation.
