Boys hockey: Merritt scores game-tying goal for Packers

The Austin boys hockey team finished strong to walk away with a 4-4 tie in La Crescent (3-1-1 overall) Thursday.
Bradyen Merritt scored the game-tying goal with 11 seconds left in the third period after Isaac Arnold scored early in the third to bring Austin (0-2-1 overall) within one goal. Daniel Bollingberg scored two first period goals for the Pacckers, who led 2-0 early on.
“We need to play with more intensity the entire game,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “We’ve got a lot of young players who need to learn the game.”
Hunter Guyette, Alex Ciola, Jace Greenman and Bryar Flanders all had one assist for Austin.
Noah Bawek had 32 saves for Austin, which had 34 shots on goal.
