Peter J. Kahl, 64, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

Peter John Kahl was born July 29, 1951, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, to Darrell and Eugena (Weseman) Kahl. He was a 1969 graduate from Grand Meadow High School. After high school, Peter attended one year at Rochester Community College. He then served as an electrical apprentice. On Aug. 22, 1970, Peter was united in marriage to Jane Lindelien at the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in Frankford Township, Minnesota. Peter worked at Swanson Lumber Yard in Grand Meadow, Minnesota Truss, Foster Electric and Andrea in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as an electrician, Federal Medical Center in the prison electrical shop, and Mayo Clinic as the Faculty Construction Manager. He also owned and operated the Feed Mill in Grand Meadow. Peter wrote books of poetry, “Another Man’s Face” and “Amanda’s Story,” which was printed in the local paper. Peter spent many summer nights in the cabin he helped build in the woods for his sons. He always had a giving heart.

Peter is survived by Jane of Racine, Minnesota; daughter, Patricia (Paul) Pladsen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; sons: James of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Nicholas of Racine, Minnesota; grandchildren: Aidan, Avery, and Wyatt; mother, Eugena Kahl-Bush of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; and brother, Michael (Cathy) Kahl of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick Christopher; father, Darrell; and sister-in-law, Norma Kahl.

Funeral services for Peter Kahl will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in Frankford Township, Minnesota, with Pastor Larry Iverson officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Hindt Funeral Home of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, is in charge of arrangements.
