Bruins win shot advantage, but drop game to the Chill

The Austin Bruins couldn’t capitalize on their chances as they lost to 5-2 to Coulee Region in Riverside Arena Thursday.
The Bruins (17-13-1 overall) seized a 2-1 lead when Zach Kennedy and Jade Miller each scored goals in a one-minute span, but the Chill answered when former Bruin Dominic Florian scored a goal with 9:45 left in the second period.
The Chill (11-17 overall) scored two early goals in the third period and they put the game away with an empty netter with 3:19 remaining.
Austin held a 30-19 shot advantage, but Robbie Goor stopped just 14 of the 18 shots he saw.
“We out-shot them pretty bad. I thought puck possession was mostly ours,” Austin head coach Kyle Grabowski said. “They’re goal tender was clearly a lot better than ours tonight. We had plenty of opportunities to score and we probably could’ve scored six goals tonight.”
The Chill was able to take the lead with a couple of put-back goals in the third.
“I liked a lot of the things that we did, but our defensive breakdowns were large,” Grabowski said. “We’ve got to find a way to tighten those up and our goal tender needs to find a way to make a couple of more saves. You only give up nineteen shots on goal, you should probably only give up a goal or two.”
