Norbert H. Gerber, 86, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Norbert Hubert Gerber was born April 19, 1929, to William and Mary (Pittman) Gerber in Adams, Minnesota. He graduated from Adams High School. After high school, Norbert enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, and served from March 1, 1950, to Aug. 5, 1951. On May 21, 1952, Norbert was united in marriage to Maxine Yonker in LeRoy, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1970. On July 14, 1978, Norbert was united in marriage to Helen Lappin. Throughout his life, Norbert worked as a farmer, at the Feed Mill, Osmundson’s, and at the pallet plant, Sedorf, as the plant manager, retiring in 1992. Norbert enjoyed reading, family get-togethers, going on walks, playing cards, and traveling throughout the United States and around the world to Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland and many more places. Norbert was a devout Catholic and was very much into his faith.

Norbert is survived by his wife, Helen of LeRoy, Minnesota; children: Dennis (Carol) of Kansas City, Missouri and their children, Dustin and Breanna; Douglas (Joy) of Wichita, Kansas, and their children, Travis and Rachel; and Don (Kimberly) of Cameron, Missouri, and their children, Chelsea, Brittney, Colby, and Tyler; step-children, Craig (Linda) Stanbro of Zumbrota, Minnesota, and their children, Nathan and Preston; and Colleen (Bruce) Lein of Hayward, Minnesota and their children, Alisha and Lonny; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Aliyah, Sophia, A.J., and Teá; siblings: Marie (Doug) Behrenfeld of Squim, Washington, David (LaVonne) Gerber of Rochester, Minnesota, Stan (Stephanie) Gerber of Salem, Oregon, and Paul Gerber of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; first wife, Maxine; son, Michael; grandson, Eric Shawn; step-daughter, Linda Mitchell; brother Eugene Gerber; and step-brothers: Ed May, Clarence May, Ralph Gerber, and Ronald Gerber.

The funeral mass for Norbert Gerber will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota, with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. with the recital of the Rosary at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy.
