ROCHESTER, Minn. — Authorities have detained a “person of interest” after a pregnant 18-year-old woman was shot in rural Rochester.

Olmsted County Sheriff David Mueller says the woman was shot one time in the upper torso with a rifle.

The woman was in surgery Wednesday afternoon at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A condition report was not immediately available.

The woman was more than 30 weeks pregnant.

The sheriff says detectives were interviewing the person of interest.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. at a home in rural northeast Rochester.
