January’s history presentation by the Mower County Historical Society will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

It will be on Minnesota in the Civil War. The talk will cover both the service of Minnesota’s regiments at Gettysburg, Murfreesboro, and other battles, as well as the fighting against the Sioux in 1862 and 1863.  Special dinner

Friday the senior center is having Food and Friends Dinner. Celebrate the New Year at our January meal. We are preparing a special dinner for you with boneless pork chops, herb seasoned fingerling potatoes, steamed broccoli, roll and we won’t forget the dessert. Members $8.50, non-members $9.50.
