GRAND MEADOW — The Grand Meadow girls basketball team has mixed a blend of youth and experience all season long and that recipe is starting to pay off as the Superlarks cruised past LeRoy-Ostrander 88-65 in GM Saturday.

GM (16-8 overall, 12-4 SEC) has now won eight straight games.

“As soon as we get to the bench we get young quick,” GM head coach Ryan Queensland said. “The last month we’re starting to gel as a team and bond as a team. The age doesn’t matter, they’re just playing basketball on the court.”

GM senior Rio Landers had 21 points and 12 rebounds, freshman Jordyn Glynn added 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals, and freshman Skylar Cotten tallied 19 points.

“I think at the beginning of the season we were more shaky because no one really had experience, but our underclassmen are gym rats and they had the skill,” Landers said. “We’re going on a run at the end of the season as they gain experience.”

Glynn has been on the varsity team since she was in the seventh grader and she’s enjoying the chance to play with some of her classmates this year.

“We play together on a traveling league in the spring and we know how each other play and it’s fun playing with them again,” Glynn said. “Rio has taught us a lot of things that maybe some people wouldn’t have thought of.”

Sam Siskow had 32 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals (7-14 overall, 6-9 SEC).
