A northwest Austin home sustained about $45,000 in damage from a Saturday night house fire.
The Austin Fire Department was called to the fire at 611 First Ave. NW shortly after 10 p.m. Firefighters arrived to smoke billowing from the house and flames were also visible in the multiple story dwelling.
It is not known how many people were in the house, but all occupants were out of the house when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were still on scene as of 11 p.m.
The $45,000 in damages included content in the house and structure, according to Fire Chief Jim McCoy. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
The two-story house was a rental unit. The Red Cross found a place for the family to stay, McCoy said.
