Evelyn May Pettis, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Feb. 26, 2016, at Adams Health Care Center.

Evelyn was born on June 25, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Overacker) Krulish in Brookings, South Dakota. She married Ervin Pettis on Feb. 29, 1948, in Augusta, Wisconsin. She worked for Hormel Company in Austin for 36 years. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and making chocolate chip cookies for her family.

Evelyn is survived by her three sons, Roger (Linda) Pettis, Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, LeRoy (Nancy) Pettis, Oakland, Minnesota, Rick (Ardi) Pettis, Rochester, Minnesota; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly (Marv) Adams, Stacyville, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Eva Krulish, Lyle, Minnesota, Delores Krulish, Austin, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2008; three brothers; and two sisters.

The visitation for Evelyn May Pettis will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. in Hayfield. There will be a private family burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, Minnesota.
