Best Bets: Creating postcards

Get ready to meet the little green men in Mower County this weekend. With a program all about UFOs, some great music and a card game, there’s sure to be something for everyone this weekend.
1. Homemade ‘Post Secret’ Postcards
6-7 p.m. Thursday, Austin ArtWorks Center
Inspired by the popular book series and blog “Post Secret,” this class will walk participants through creating their very own little piece of “post art.” Participants will use a variety of materials, and will get to take home their postcard at the end of the night. Cost is $30.
2. DATE CHANGE: ArtRocks Open Jam Session
7-10 p.m., session planned for this weekend moved to March 25, Austin ArtWorks Center
ArtRocks is a monthly jam session for musicians to meet and play with other musicians from around the area. The event is for both musicians and listeners.
3. Hucklybuck Tournament
12 p.m. Saturday, Austin Veterans of Foreign Wars club
Sign up for this fun card tournament at 12 to 12:30 p.m., with start time at 1 p.m. There will be food and fun, and for more information, call 507-433-6039.
4. Northwestern Singers present “Back to the Future”
7 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, Historic Paramount Theatre
The Northwestern Singers is presenting “Back to the Future,” a show that pays tribute to memorable hits from past NWS shows as well as contemporary songs as it looks to the future. Audiences will hear selections like Jersey Boys medley, songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, “Lean on Me,” “When I Survey,” “Power of Love,” “Red,” “On Top of the World,” “Circle of Life,” and many more. 5. UFOs of Minnesota
7-8 p.m. Monday, Austin Public Library
Get ready for a strange evening of bizarre lights, mysterious abductions, strange creatures, and unexplained flying crafts as Paranormal Researcher Chad Lewis presents some of his most unusual UFO cases from Austin and Minnesota.
