Robert William Bawek, 91, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Our House Memory Care.

He was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Rose Creek, Minnesota, the son of Benjamin and Theresa Bawek. He attended country school through the eighth grade. On Sept. 29, 1944, Robert and Claire Nelson were united in marriage in Austin. The couple raised five children. Claire passed away in November 2009. Bob worked for Hormel Foods for 39 years. A member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, he also belonged to the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club. Bob enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, gardening, and he liked old cars. He took great pride in his lawn. In 2011, he moved to Our House Memory Care.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Nancy Haney of Austin, Minnesota, Sue (Bruce) Marlin of Rosemount, Minnesota, JoAnne (Mike) Goodnight of Buffalo Center, Iowa; his sons, Ron (Fay) Bawek of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, John Bawek of Dillon, Colorado; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his sister Darlene; and brothers, Leo, Mel, and Luverne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Claire; one sister and three brothers.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to Queen of Angels Catholic Church or recipient of donor’s choice. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
