Robert G. Lonergan, 85 of Dexter, Minnesota, died at his home Wednesday, March 9, 2016.
Robert was born March 30, 1930, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Charles and Ruth (Gunsallus) Lonergan. He attended school at Osage and married Jean Heydeman on July 12, 1952, at Colona, Illinois. Robert was a lifelong farmer and for the past 52 years the Lonergans lived and farmed at Dexter, Minnesota.
Robert loved spending time with his family. He was a collector of John Deere memorabilia and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents; three brothers and one sister.
Robert is survived by his wife Jean Lonergan, Dexter, Minnesota; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Bob Stocks, Dexter, Minnesota; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Lonergan, Brownsdale, Minnesota, Duane and Amy Lonergan, Austin, Minnesota, Randy and Jill Lonergan, Dexter, Minnesota, Glenn and Michelle Lonergan, Dexter, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Lori Brennen, Rochester, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Estregren, Apple Valley, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Grace Lonergan, Mason City, Iowa, and Laura Lonergan, Charles City, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Adams Funeral Home with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at Dexter Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour before the service.
