Awesome Austin held its second event of 2016 last week at Willow Cove that brought together 26 professional newcomers to paint their own pallet signs to take home.
Awesome Austin is part of a welcoming service called AustinWorks and is designed to introduce and connect new employees and their families to Austin.
“It was fun to see some new faces last night, along with some second- and third-time attendees,” Community Concierge Kristen Olson said in a press release. “Our hope is that people will have fun and make connections that will help in their adjustment to the community.”
Awesome Austin events are sponsored by the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce and are designed to showcase Austin and better connect newcomers to the community. Professional newcomers who have been in Austin two years or fewer are eligible to attend.
As community concierge, Olson provides direct, on-going personal assistance to newly employed professionals and their families, assisting them with housing, employment for the trailing spouse and connections to all family interests. The program was developed through the Business Friendly Committee of Vision 2020 and is funded by The Hormel Foundation and major employers.
