Melba L. Myhre, 99, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.
Melba Luella was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota, to Hans and Mollie (Olson) Sampson. She attended country school and graduated from Lyle High School. She was a longtime devoted member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in rural Lyle, Minnesota. Melba was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and all who were blessed to have known her.
Survivors include her four children, Sharon (Don) Merten of Rose Creek, Marva (Bob) Blake of Austin, Richard (Barbara) Myhre of Rochester, and Gary (Cynthia) Myhre of Oak Grove; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; and one niece.
Melba was preceded in death by her sons, Ted F. Myhre, and Roger E. Myhre; grandson Tim P. Myhre; parents; brother Orin Sampson, and sister Verna (Harvey) Haskin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in rural Lyle, Minnesota, with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning prior to the service at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Grove Church Cemetery.
