A bed caught fire Monday but was quickly extinguished and resulted in no injuries.

Austin Police Department and Austin Fire Department responded to the 700 block of 18th Street Southwest to the report of a house fire. Gold Cross Ambulance was also in the neighborhood at the time of the call, Police Chief Brian Krueger said.

Upon arrival, light smoke could be seen coming out of the house. An upstairs bed had caught fire, but the homeowner said he and his wife threw water on it and extinguished it.

The fire department set up fans to get the smoke out. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
