MINNEAPOLIS — Activists plan a rally this weekend to demand charges against two Minneapolis police officers in the fatal shooting of a black man last November.
The rally starts at noon Saturday at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis.
The Twin Cities Coalition 4 Justice 4 Jamar Clark wants Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman to bring charges against the officers in the death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark. Police say Clark was shot during a struggle, but some people who say they witnessed the shooting contend Clark was handcuffed.
Freeman said last week he will not use a grand jury to determine whether Officers Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze should be charged, but will make the charging decision himself.
Coalition members say there’s no assurance that Freeman will charge the officers.
