Pete Economou, 91, of Bloomington, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on March 19, 2016.
Pete was a member of Holy Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Rochester. After immigrating from Ano Lousi, Greece, in 1956, Pete went on to own the Midtown Café in Austin for over 17 years with his wife, Tacia. Pete loved to garden; his yard was filled with beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables. For many years he also gardened a separate plot of land in southwest Austin, the bounty of which he always shared with family and friends.
He is survived by children, Olga, Themis (Kathy), Maria (Jeff); grandchildren, Annie, Crissy, Peter, Sophia and Penelope; nephews, Angelo (Gina), Costas and Andreas.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Tacia; mother, Olga; father, Themistocles; two sisters; a brother-in-law; and in-laws, Maria and Strato.
Pete was proud of his Greek heritage and garden, but above all, he was proud of his family — they will miss him dearly. May his memory be eternal. Special thanks to Mary Rogotzke for her help and exceptional care over the past months.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be directed to either: Philoxenia House, Rochester, Minnesota, or Abbott Northwestern Hospital Foundation, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin with Father Mark Munoz and Father George Dokos officiating. Trisagion will take place at 10 a.m. with visitation to follow until the time of the service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the Holiday Inn following the interment.
