Marilyn Carol Lewis, 81, died peacefully with her family around her at The Neighbors of Dunn County Memory Care facility in Menomonie, Wisconsin, on Saturday, March 26, 2016. She had resided there for almost two-and-a-half years.

She was born Feb. 25, 1935, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, and was raised in Lyle, Minnesota. She married Richard Lewis on June 24, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota. They lived in Austin until 1961 and then moved to Stewartville. They moved to Rochester in 1988.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and with her husband raised five children. During her husband’s illness and subsequent death, she worked outside the home at Mayo Clinic until 2000. After her retirement, she was an avid volunteer for many organizations including the Red Cross and Mayo Clinic. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and traveling.

Survivors include four daughters, Kris (Steven) Anderson of Rosemount, Minnesota, Jane (Greg) Henderson of Hudson, Wisconsin, Sue (Thomas) Slightam of Stewartville, Minnesota, Marny (Kyle) Billings of Stewartville, Minnesota; a son, Jim (Lori) of Colfax, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ann (Cliff) Diggins, Gloria (Sonny) Read; and three brothers, Dick, Phillip, and Dave Block.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

The memorial service for Marilyn Carol Lewis will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville. The Rev. Wane Souhrada will officiate.
