Best Bets: Treasures, shows and meals to fill up your weekend

Get ready to find some treasures this weekend. With an annual CRC rummage sale, dinner and comedy, poetry and great food, this weekend is one you won’t forget.
1. CRC fifth annual Employee Rummage Sale
8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center
CRC employees will join together to sell their gently used items for a great cause. Additionally, there will be numerous craft vendors including Jamberry Nails, Noonday Collection, Pink Zebra, Scensty, Thirty-One, Creations by Peggy Young and Annette Huffman, and It Works. At least 10 percent of all sales will be donated to the Austin Salvation Army. For more information, call Julie at 507-437-2304.
2. Dinner and Comedy Show
6-10 p.m. Friday, Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center
This Dinner and Comedy Show will show stars Mark Poolos and feature Austin’s own Chris Anderson. Dinner tickets are no longer available. Show tickets are $15 each and are available up until showtime. Cost is $15 for show tickets.
3. Pacelli Drama presents “An Evening’s Frost”
6-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Pacelli High School Auditorium
Pacelli Drama will present “An Evening’s Frost,” a spoken word performance of Robert Frost’s poetry. Cost is $5 for students, $7 for adults, and $15 for a family. Saturday tickets include a pre-performance social deal with refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, dessert and music, before Saturday’s performance. There will be social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Media Center. Tickets are $12 per person or $20 per couple.
4. Matchbox presents: “Story Stew: A Fairy Tale Revue”
7-8 p.m. Friday, 2-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Historic Paramount Theatre
Audiences of all ages will be delighted by this script about the famous Old Woman fairytale character who ends up finding a very unusual home. Of course, she needs lots of space because she had so many children, but did you know that her children are Jack and Jill, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and that lamb loving Mary? There are twists to familiar fables at every turn as this wild romp winds its way through the enchanted forest while the kids look for food, or at least a cookie. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for youth.
5. Annual Swiss Steak Supper
4:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Brownsdale United Methodist Church
The Brownsdale United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Swiss Steak Supper on Saturday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12.
6. Sixth Annual Taste of Mower County
5-10 p.m. Sunday, Holiday Inn Austin Conference Center
This annual fundraiser for The Arc Mower County is a tasty one. Tickets are $25 for individuals, $40 for couples, $80 for four people, or $160 for full table of eight people. Enjoy tastings of signature items from Mower County’s finest home and restaurant chefs, wine tasting, cash bar, live and silent auction, door prizes and entertainment.
