Former Austin Bruin Johnny Simonson is an NCAA champion.

Simonson plays for the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team, which wrapped up the NCAA title with a 5-1 win over Quinnipiac in the Frozen Four Final in Tampa Bay, Fla. Saturday.

Simonson attempted four shots and he had one block in the championship win for UND.

On the season, Simonson had three goals and 17 assists in 43 games played.n
