If you’re looking for a good read, now is the chance to pick one up this weekend. It’s also a good chance to get out and find some fresh deals around Austin through the joy of rummage sales.

1. Austin Public Library Spring Used Book Sale

Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Austin Public Library

With more than 14,000 books, DVDs, CDs and music for sale, this is one of the best chances to pick up some quality reads to take out into your backyard as you enjoy the increasing sun. Plus the money goes to good causes such as Riverland Community College scholarships and library programs.

2. Comedy Night

Friday, 7:30 p.m., Austin ArtWorks Center

Originally slated for the Paramount Theater, this night of laughs has now moved over to the Austin ArtWorks Center. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

3. 300M4Freedom Concert

Friday, 7 p.m., Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center

Featuring Jamie & Codie Acoustic in the ballroom lobby and Chris Hawkey in the ballroom, this concert is raising money for Kelly Nesvold’s triathlon fundraiser, brining awareness to victims of human trafficking. A night of great music for a good cause. All proceeds go to Mission 21 out of Rochester and Out of Ashes in Nebal. Tickets are $10 in advance at Wellness 1st Chiropractic, Holiday Inn and Hy-Vee. $11 online at www.venture.regfox.com or $15 at the door.

4. 17th annual Women’s Health Care Symposium

Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Hormel Historic Home

Mayo Clinic Health System providers will provide health information on transforming community care, bone health importance, understanding mental health and community health and wellness options. The event is free and open to women. Space is limited so call to register at 1-507-379-2046.

5. Sola Fide Viewing

Saturday, 9 p.m., Sola Fide Observatory

Learn about the night sky as this small observatory south of Austin holds its first viewing of May. A moonless night should open up plenty of the sky for some prime viewing.

6. Austin City-Wide Rummage Sale

Saturday, all day, city of Austin

On the hunt for that hidden treasure or looking to pick up some new threads? The city of Austin will be taking part in this city-wide sale. Downtown Austin will also be getting into the spirit with its own Downtown Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
