HAYFIELD —The Hayfield softball team lost 18-1 in five innings to Zumbrota-Mazeppa, which is ranked No. 1 in Class AA, in Hayfield Friday.

The Cougars (13-1 overall) put up eight runs in the top of the fourth to go up 14-1.

Carrie Rutledge scored the lone run for the Vikings (9-6 overall) when she was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored on a wild pitch in the first inning. Rutledge also had Hayfield’s lone hit when she tripled in the third inning.
