ST. PAUL — Rep. Jeanne Poppe, DFL-Austin, was appointed Wednesday to the conference committee on the Agriculture Policy Omnibus bill (SF 3018).
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with fellow conferees to compromise on a final bill and deliver strong ag initiatives for our farmers in Greater Minnesota,” Poppe said in a release.
The bill contains significant support for ag communities by including an extension of a Farmer-Lender Mediation Task Force, and a farm safety standard to address farming accidents across the state.
The committee is expected to meet before the Legislature adjourns on May 23.
And on Monday evening, the Minnesota House passed the Omnibus Agriculture Policy bill (HF 3231) on a bipartisan vote of 127-0.

“This bill contains several initiatives benefiting family farmers,” she said in a press release. “It takes necessary steps to address the increasing numbers of farming accidents across the state, improves farmer-lender mediation and removes red tape for local producers. I look forward to the bill advancing to Gov. [Mark] Dayton’s desk.”
