A man in a vehicle has been asking a female high school student if she would like a ride when she walks to school, and now police are seeking tips on the individual.

Police officers responded to the 100 block of Third Avenue Southwest at about 7:55 p.m. Monday night for a report of suspicious activity.

A 16-year-old student said she was walking to Austin High School when a man, described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s, approached her in a gold SUV and asked her if she would like a ride, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

She told the man no and kept walking.

Krueger said this has happened three times and that on Monday, the student reported he was parked just one block from her residence and asked her again if she wanted a ride.

Krueger said they didn’t have license information at this time, but anyone with information should call the law enforcement center at 507-437-9400 or the Tip411 line.
