The Austin boys golf team failed to advance anyone to the state meet at the Section 1AAA meet in Lake City Tuesday.
The Packers had score of 346 in the first round and finished ninth as a team. Only the top eight teams advance to the second round.
“It’s kind of disappointing,” Austin head coach Matt Raso said. “We wanted to get in the top eight and I wanted to get a guy or two to state. Unfortunately the back nine just ate us up.”
James Snee shot a 166 for the Packers and Ethan Morey had a 167.
Austin had a strong season as it finished fourth in the Big Nine with a record of 15-7 overall, Morey won the Big Nine meet and Noah Bawek had a hole in one.
“We’ve gotten better each year with the same group of guys,” Raso said. “Unfortunately five of them won’t be back. They’re a good group of kids and they’re very coachable.”
Austin scoring: James Snee, 166; Ethan Morey, 167; Zach Neumann, 168; Jace Greenman, 170
