Musical summer

Music: Why is it part of our mission? Because it was important to the Hormel family. George Hormel grew up in a family that saw the value of participating in and listening to music. In the manuscript “Three Men and a Business,” he wrote about the joy his father found in music.
“Father, his bearded face wreathed in smiles, joined in the singing or listened to the lovely old American and European folk-songs he loved so well. Whenever he listened to music, he appeared to be enjoying the height of happiness.” When describing how the family often spent Sunday afternoons, George wrote that when “friends came to visit us, music and singing brightened the occasions.”
I am confident that you also find enjoyment in music and may even find that it adds to your quality of life.
That is why the Hormel Historic Home strives to incorporate music into our educational and historical programming. We are blessed with the funding to do so, and we want our guests to be enriched by the presence of music much like the Hormel family was.
Our summer concert series includes the following events so please come and “enjoy the height of happiness.”
