The Austin Blue Sox opened the Spamtown Challenge with a 5-4 win over the Wesmont, Ill. Red Sox in Marcusen Park Friday.

Kyal Williams gave the Blue Sox the lead for good when he blasted a solo homer in the sixth inning.

Austin will play a pair of challenge games on Saturday, including a 6:30 p.m. showdown with the Austin Greyhounds.
