3 Austin people in crash last Friday

Three Austin residents were involved in a crash on Friday morning.
At about 7:14 a.m., Michael Cain, 36, was driving his 2009 Dodge Avenger eastbound on Interstate 90 near State Highway 56 when it rear-ended a 2000 Lexus RX300 driven by Jeffery Nielson, 58, was driving his also eastbound, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Kathleen Nielson, 70, was a passenger in Jeffrey Nielson’s car and sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. Cain and Jeffery Nielson had no apparent injury.
All three were wearing their seat belts and no alcohol was detected in any the people involved. The vehicles sustained moderate damage, and the Dodge Avenger was towed by Midtown Towing.
The state patrol was assisted by the Mower County and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
