Albert Lea man dies as dump truck, train collide

ALDEN — A rural Albert Lea man was killed Wednesday in a fatal dump truck/train crash west of Alden.

The collision occurred at the uncontrolled intersection of 220th Street and 200th Street when a westbound Canadian Pacific Railroad train collided with the northbound dump truck as it crossed the railroad tracks, according to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The 67-year-old driver of the truck was reportedly found deceased. The staff on the locomotive were reportedly uninjured.

The name of the 67-year-old man has not been released.

The crash is under investigation.

More information will be released at a later time.

Assisting agencies included Alden Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Alden fire, Freeborn ambulance and Allen’s Tow N Travel.
