Area artists are encouraged to participate in the Fine Arts division of this year’s Mower County Fair.

It’s open to all residents from Mower County and the surrounding area, ages 16 and older. New artists welcome.

Information for the competition along with entry forms can be found at www.mowercountyfair.com. Printed forms and information are also available at the Austin ArtWorks Center or at the fair office. There is no entry fee.

The pre-registration deadline is Aug. 1. All entires must be brought to the Creative Arts Building on Aug. 2 between 3 and 6 p.m.

Judging will take place on Aug. 3. No artwork will be accepted which cannot be displayed for the duration of the fair which runs Aug. 9 to 14.

Artwork must be picked up between the hours of 6 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 14, the last day of the fair.

Up to four original works per artist. Each must be labeled on the back with the title, name of the artists, address and phone number. Pictures must be framed and ready to hang with a wire support on the back.

Mediums include watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawings and pastels in three different divisions: professional, pro-amateur and amateur. First, second and third place money prizes will be awarded in each division.
