WINONA — A Minnesota man has been charged with homicide for a drive-by shooting outside a Winona bar that killed one person and injured another.
Rickey Waiters, 49, was charged Thursday in connection with the early Wednesday morning shooting. Winona police said they received a call of shots fired at about 1 a.m. Wednesday outside EB’s Corner. The two men were in a larger group outside the bar when they were shot.
Fifty-three-year-old Robert Charles Johnson of Winona was shot in the torso and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Twenty-seven-year-old Sean O’Brien, also of Winona, was shot in the leg and was in stable condition Wednesday.
Waiters faces a second-degree murder charge as well as charges for drive-by shooting and assault. He could receive up to 40 years in prison.
