Marlene Ann Andrews, 74

Marlene Ann Andrews, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at The Cedars of Austin.

Marlene was born May 4, 1942, in Newport, Minnesota, to Dorothy (Stone) and Donald Jack Petersen Sr. She attended elementary school in Newport, Minnesota, and later obtained her GED before attending vocational technical college for mechanics. Marlene lived in Appleton, Wisconsin, for 30 years where she enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, serving for almost six years. She was united in marriage to Darvin Andrews on June 16, 1959, in South Dakota; the couple later divorced. A baptized former member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Marlene volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Appleton, Wisconsin. She loved horses and horseback riding, enjoyed being outdoors, carpentry work and working with wood, as well as learning new things. She moved to Austin in 2016.

Marlene is survived by her children: Rick (Judy) Andrews of Hollandale, Minnesota, and Georgia Andrews of Austin, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Brandon Andrews, Travis Andrews and Marissa (Chase) Wynns; three great-grandchildren: Rylyn, Payton and Ryder; her brothers: Don (Beth) Petersen of Austin; Conrad “Smokey” Petersen of Austin; her sisters, Jackie Bybee of Camden, South Carolina, Donna Kruschel of Cambridge, Minnesota, and Merrie Jo Baumgartner of Hollandale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard in 2007; grandson, Corey Andrews in 2015; and her two Schnauzer dogs, B.J. and Sparky.
