Highway 218 motorists in Austin will encounter a detour beginning Sept. 21 while crews from the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad repair a crossing, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The detour is expected to last two to three days, depending on weather conditions. The detour will be removed sooner, if the work is completed sooner.

The detour for northbound motorists on Highway 218 north of Interstate 90 in northwest Austin will follow: East on 18th Avenue Northwest, North on Mower County Road 45 until it connects with Highway 218.

Southbound motorists can follow the route in reverse.
