Letter: Quit second-guessing and get the jail project done

Why do we spend money and waste our time electing officials to run our city and county just to second-guess their decisions? I am not saying they are always right, but the time to question their judgement is at the onset of an idea or issue and not after votes are taken and a matter is passed.

After much discussion and many hours spent by both city and county officials, the justice center was voted to go in the downtown area, so let’s save all of us some money and just get the job done.

I would also like to ask the Austin Main Street Project officials to think about their name for a minute. Forget about the Robbin’s building and concentrate on our downtown Main Street which, at this time, has five to six vacant stores. The only way we can help the businesses already located on Main Street is to fill these empty stores.

I would also like to congratulate our Chamber of Commerce for their campaign. “Buy Mower, Grow Mower” and hope we will all get behind the great idea.
