Judy (Graff) Arthun, 73, of Austin, Minnesota, Bloomington, Minnesota, and Los Angeles, California, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, surrounded by her loving daughters, after privately battling Multiple Myeloma for the past year and a half.

Judy grew up in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Herb and Mona Graff, and was the mother of three daughters and the grandmother of five grandchildren. Judy was a long-time employee of the John Deere Company, retiring in 2001 after 27 years. After her retirement, she worked for over 12 years in the handbag department of Macy’s at Mall of America. Judy enjoyed working a few days a week and found humor in the daily sales environment.

She had recently moved to California to be near family while she sought treatment for Multiple Myeloma. She was enjoying her time in Los Angeles, living in her top-floor condo overlooking the Staples Center, in the center of the city’s action. She often said “you’d have to see it to believe it!” when referencing the excitement she saw out her windows. Judy loved spending time with her daughters, who often took her on wonderful adventures, and her grandchildren who always kept her feeling young and loved. Judy enjoyed games, word puzzles and was an avid reader.  She loved traveling over the years and especially enjoyed learning every detail about the cities she was visiting.  Her love of learning lasted a lifetime.

Judy is survived by her children Kathy Arthun, Shelley (Mark) Kremer, Amy (William) Lorton; five beloved grandchildren, Chad Kremer, Cady Kremer, Paige Lorton, Spencer Lorton, and Reid Lorton; her brother Rod (Pat) Graff, nephews Ryan Graff and Randy Graff, and great-niece Taylor Anderson-Graff.

The Arthun family would like to thank Dr. Michael Rosove and the staff at UCLA Medical Center and the nursing staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Los Angeles for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to: Friends of Hennepin County Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Suite N-290, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55401. Please specify that the gifts are in memory of Judy Arthun. A private ceremony is planned.

Judy meant the world to her family. She will be missed for her great sense of humor, the times she would laugh so hard she would cry, and her genuine interest in every detail of her loved ones’ lives. She was deeply loved and will be missed forever.
