Charles Arnold ‘Chuck’ Sargent, 76

Charles Arnold “Chuck” Sargent, 76, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester – Saint Marys Campus.

He was born July 12, 1940 in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Esther (Lagervall) Sargent. A graduate of Elkton High School, Chuck worked for the city of Austin Street Department for 30 years. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Hy-Vee. On March 21, 1964, Chuck married Sandra Parsley at Crane Community Chapel in Austin. The couple raised three children. Chuck loved to visit with people and socialize with his neighbors. Flower and vegetable gardening, putzing around the house and yard, and metal detecting were among his favorite leisure activities. His family was his most cherished possession and his time spent with them was a treasure. His church was very important to him. Chuck and Sandy belonged to the Church of Christ, where Chuck held several positions over the years including Trustee. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his wife Sandy of Austin, Minnesota; his children Stacy Sargent and Stephanie Sargent, both of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Scott Sargent of Austin, Minnesota; his brother Richard (Melinda) Sargent of Rochester, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Debbie Parsley and Sue Lennberg, both of Austin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Esther Sargent, his in-laws George and Ida Parsley, and his brother-in-law Chuck Lennberg.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Austin, with Rev. Dr. Stephen DeFor and Rev. Alan Sheldon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brownsdale. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
