Sharon K. Hammermeister, 67, passed away on Oct. 4, 2016, at her home in Brownsdale, Minnesota, with her family by her side.
Sharon was born on Sept. 1, 1949, the daughter of Gerhardt and Alice (Ferkingstad) Koball in Fairmont, Minnesota, and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to David Hammermeister in 1990, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Brownsdale. Sharon worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Heart Monitor Technician for 30 years and retired in 2012. She enjoyed camping, baking, sewing, canning, gardening and spending time with her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, David Hammermeister, Brownsdale, Minnesota; children, Carla (Dan Benson) Masching; Shelly (Doug Yotter) Pater; Mother, Alice Koball; grandchildren, Tori (Ben) Severson; Ashley Masching, Miranda (Matt Erickson) Garness; Stephanie (Terrell Johnson) Masching; Ben and Emily Pater; Tim Benson; great grandchildren, Piper, Ja’ Karie, Cloud, Olivia and Riley; sister-in-law, Lois and Arnie Kuntz; brother-in-law, Ron and Glenda Hammermeister; sister-in-law, Janet Koball; uncle, Ed and Barb Ferkingstad; aunt, Evelyn Armstrong; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerhardt Koball in 2006; brother, Richard Koball, in 1999; aunts and uncles, Bob and Marlene Koball; Orville Armstrong, and Shirley Ferkingstad; parents-in-law, Arlene and Arnold Hammermeister.
The funeral service for Sharon will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield with Reverend Fossum officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Brownsdale, Minnesota.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday.
