Dorothy G. Johnson, 99, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin surrounded by her loving family.

On Dec. 1, 1916, Dorothy was born to Christian and Violet (Swanson) Thompson in Aitkin County, Minnesota. She attended school in Jackson, Minnesota. On Dec. 2, 1933, she married Howard Irwin. To this union, 12 children were born. Howard passed away on Oct. 26, 1977. Ten years later, Dorothy married George A. Johnson. George passed away in 1982.

Dorothy owned and operated the Hilltop Café in Andyville, Minnesota, from 1959 to 1964. Dorothy loved to dance and even danced with her sons on her 90th birthday. She loved birds, taking long walks and traveling. Dorothy was a past member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and later Crane Chapel. Dorothy was a very good Mom and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include: her sons, Gary (Gloria) Irwin of Little Falls, Minnesota, Hugh (Monika) Irwin of Isanti, Minnesota, Miles “Mike” Irwin of Austin, Minnesota, Donald Irwin of Bloomington, Minnesota; daughters, Patricia (Mick) Hull of Austin, Minnesota, Terry (John) Gray of Austin, Minnesota, Dorothy “Tina” Longacre, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Kay (Les) Buege of St. Paul, Minnesota; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard; her second husband, George; sons, Lesley and Charles; daughters, JeanAnn and Catherine; her parents; a brother; and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Crane Community Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dale Christiansen officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17th at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services at church.
