A 26-year-old Austin woman suspected of hitting a stop sign and driving while drunk was arrested shortly after driving through McDonald’s on Friday night.
Austin police responded to a call at 11:37 p.m. Friday of a stop sign being run over at the corner of Second Avenue and First Street Northeast.
Then around 11:57 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic driver who stopped at the West Oakland Avenue McDonald’s.
Police spotted the vehicle, a 2010 Black Ford Fusion, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but had to use sirens and lights to get the driver’s attention.
The driver, a 26-year-old woman, finally stopped by Walgreen’s and failed field sobriety tests and later a Breathalyzer.
The Fusion had front end damage that matched the stop sign.
The woman was arrested and is awaiting formal charges.
