Two Austin runaways were apprehended in Goodhue County Aug. 2 after stealing a car from a local man, according to Austin Police Lt. John Mueller.
Mueller said the police received a report of the missing 16- and 17-year old males around 10 p.m. Aug. 1. The two were returned to Austin after they admitted to Goodhue authorities during a 2 a.m. traffic stop Aug. 2 that they’d taken the vehicle from an Austin residence, Mueller stated.
Attempts to reach the registered owner failed; the alleged victim called the Law Enforcement Center Aug. 3 to report his car missing.
It was towed back to town.
Charges are pending, Mueller said.
