An 81-year-old Austin woman was treated for hypothermia after her vehicle rolled and landed in a waterway off 20th Avenue Northwest on Wednesday.
Becky Ault, trapped in her vehicle, was able to keep herself above the water — about 2 feet deep — before Austin firefighters arrived and used extraction tools to remove her.
According to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May, Ault was traveling westbound on the 400 block of 20th Avenue when her vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled into the waterway around 12:50 p.m.
She was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
