Darvin N. Andrews, 84, of Austin, Minnesota died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Society, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 1, 1932, in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Nye and Bessie (Badge) Andrews. A lifelong Austin resident and lifetime VFW member, Darvin served his country with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. On June 16, 1959, he was united in marriage to Marlene Petersen in South Dakota. The couple later divorced. After his divorce, Darvin married Ruth Prusha, who later passed away. Darvin worked at Weyerhaeuser for 29 years before his retirement. He was an avid Vikings fan, and his favorite pastimes included riding Harleys, horseback riding, camping with his relatives and friends, fishing, and pheasant hunting.

Darvin is survived by his son, Rick (Judy) Andrews of Hollandale, Minnesota; his daughter, Georgia Andrews of Austin; three grandchildren Brandon Andrews, Travis Andrews and Marissa (Chase) Wynns; three great-grandchildren, Rylyn, Payton, and Ryder; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Nye and Bessie Andrews; his wife Ruth; grandson Corey Andrews in 2015; and one brother, Victor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the VFW, the Salvation Army, or recipient of donor’s choice.
