MAPLE GROVE — School officials say they have identified the student who wrote racist messages inside a bathroom at Maple Grove Senior High School.

Officials of Osseo Area Schools say the investigation has concluded and the district is taking steps to have conversations about race.

In a letter, Superintendent Kate Maguire says she is committed to ensuring schools “where racism is not tolerated and is not ignored.”

Officials cannot disclose how the student was disciplined, due to privacy laws. But officials say the district considered the graffiti a “serious incident” and took appropriate action.

After Election Day, students discovered racist graffiti in their school bathroom that included messages such as (hashtag) “#whitesonly” and (hashtag) “#gobacktoafrica.”
