Albert Lea wreck involves Austin man; Injuries deemed non life-threatening

ALBERT LEA — Three people were injured Friday night in a head-on crash on an icy portion of U.S. Highway 65 in Freeborn County.

Johnna H. Emond, 48, of Cottage Grove, Jennifer K. Emond, 18, of Northwood and Timothy A. Weis, 21, of Austin were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Sidney A. Troutner, 67, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am north on U.S. Highway 65 when she lost control of the vehicle shortly after 6 p.m., causing the car to enter the southbound lane into the path of a 2012 GMC van driven by Johnna Emond, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Troutner was not injured in the crash.

Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Glenville and Albert Lea fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted on scene.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report stated.
