Joyce P. Bailey, 86

Joyce P. Bailey, 86, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, Dec. 24, 2016, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Society in Austin.

Joyce Pauline Chinander was born June 27, 1930, in Austin, the daughter of Stanley and Flossie (Taylor) Chinander. She attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1948. She married Donald C. Bailey on Sept. 12, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin, where Joyce worked for the Geo. A. Hormel Company, retiring after almost 39 years. Donald died on Sept. 10, 2006. Joyce enjoyed camping. She was an active charter member of Fellowship United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School. She later joined First United Methodist Church after Fellowship United Methodist Church closed.

Survivors include her children, Gary Bailey of Kansas, Rod (Rose) Bailey of Austin, Penny, (Dennis) Sanderson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Bob (Sue) Bailey of Austin; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Betty Arett of Austin and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; daughter, Sue Carr in 2013; and a sister, Eva Tuchek.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
