Warming houses back open

The snow and colder weather have allowed the warming houses to re-open at the ice rinks at Kaufman, Galloway and Skinners Hill.
Hours for Kaufman are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The weekend hours for Kaufman, Galloway and Skinners Hill will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Hockey
Austin Park and Recreation will host the Stickin Around Mite Tournament on March 11. Team registration of $150 is due on Feb. 24 at the Park and Recreation office.
The tournament will take place at Riverside Arena with four games guaranteed, three divisions of play, three, 10-minute periods, five-on-five hockey and a shoot out to end each game.
The Bruins will have home ice that evening and have reserved the Bear Den for participants and parents. The cost for adults is $15 which includes pizza and beverages however we must have 50 paid adults. Deadline is Feb. 24 as well. Spring three-on-three youth hockey league will be at Riverside Arena.
Advanced mites, squirts, peewees and bantams, put your team together and register by Feb. 17. Cost per team is $180. Games will start at 1 p.m. on Sundays March 12, 19, 23 and April 2 then on Saturdays April 8, 22, 29 and May 6, 7.

Nature center
You are cordially invited to the Friends of the Hormel Nature Center 2017 annual meeting and luncheon at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium. Come and enjoy a bowl of chili, cornbread, crackers, fresh veggies, dessert bars and refreshments while listening to the music of the Peter Jacobs Jazz Combo. The meeting will begin at 1:15 p.m. with a nature center report and update from our new director, Luke Reese. Paint the Town Pink
Pink flags are up as well as flags of many colors on Oakland Avenue representing all cancers.

Pickleball
Pickleball open gym has started at Ellis Middle School on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting this Wednesday and going to March 8.

Packer Arena schedule
Public skate: Next weekend we will have another large tournament so no public skate. The cost is $4 to skate plus $1 if you need to rent skates. Make sure to like us on Facebook so you receive up to date information.
Riverside Arena schedule
•Adult Open Hockey: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. Cost is $6 per person each event. Attendees must be 16; goalies are free.
•Austin High School hockey home games: Girls will host Mankato East at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Austin Bruin’s next home game: Friday and Saturday versus Aberdeen. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
