Lyle Area Cancer would like to thank everyone who helped with any of the events this past fundraising year. A huge thank you to the sponsors, committees, volunteers, businesses and event participants for everything you do throughout the year to support the fundraising efforts of LAC.

Every minute and every dollar invested in finding a cure is greatly appreciated by all those affected by cancer and those who want a cure for this disease that has afflicted so many of our loved ones. Your efforts have helped LAC to raise more than $2.6 million dollars in the last 38 years. Thank you!

Volunteer committees hold many different events throughout the year with proceeds going to Lyle Area Cancer. These events range in activities from having a lemonade stand to barbeques, selling cookies at school to raising and selling sweetcorn, from riding stationary bikes to motorcycle/car cruises, from braunschweiger potlucks to Cancer Bashes, from scrapbooking to quilting, raffles to pool tournaments, and let’s not forget saving our aluminum cans, Pink Out at High School sporting events, and so many more activities.

These events all lead up to the “big finale” the cancer auction weekend which is so much more than just an auction. This is not your typical auction. There is a wide range of items to bid on plus there are presentations, entertainment (of some sort), silent auctions, homemade food, haircuts, taste testing, and several other activities to participate in throughout the two-day auction.

This past year was as much of a success as previously for all of the events. The Cruise for a Cure and Silent Auction brought in $600 and $700. Cans for a Cure was over $1,300, Squeeze Out Cancer (lemonade stand) over $1,800. Braunschweiger Wednesdays, Corn for a Cure, and the school groups were all over $2,000. Quilting For A Cure over $3,900, the kitchen at the auction brought in over $4,400. The Half Way to January Cancer Bash was over $9,300 and the Farmboy BBQ was over $9,800 while the Crop for a Cure (scrapbooking) was over $11,000. The Harley raffle brought in over $26,000, Pool Tournament $33,000, and Spinning for a Cure (stationary bikes) brought in $38,000, while the auction brought in over $57,000. As you can imagine these events take many hands of all ages to make them the successes they are. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, or participated in any way at these events.
