Austin gymnasts take second in Big Nine meet

The Austin gymnastics team finished in second place at the Big Nine meet as it finished with a team score of 145.700 in Red Wing Saturday.
Owatonna won the meet with a score of 146.450 and Mankato West was third with a 138.100.
Austin senior Maddie Mullenbach had the top all-around score in the meet and Jennifer Boyle was third in all-around.
“We are very proud of the girls,” Austin head coach Matt Schmit said. “Their dedication and work ethic throughout the season is paying off. We didn’t have our best stuff tonight but we fought through it and did very well. Congratulations to Owatonna and their team, they performed really well tonight.”
Mullenbach, Boyle, Samantha Sheldon and Paige Raymond were All-Big Nine and Isabel Leuer was honorable mention. The Austin assistant coaches awarded conference coaches of the year.
