The Southland girls basketball team had a pair of big scoring outbursts from its backcourt as it beat La Crescent (6-18 overall, 3-13 Three Rivers) 63-47 on the road Monday.
Junior guard McKendry Kennedy had a career-high 30 points and senior Kaysie Allen had a career high 25 points in the win for the Rebels (7-12 overall, 7-9 Three Rivers).
Kennedy did her damage with the dribble drive and Allen scored the bulk of her points in transition.
“We’re not going to win a heck a lot of games going forward with two people scoring 90 percent of our points,” Southland head coach Dean Bendtsen said. “There’s got to be better distribution, but we’ll take it.”
Southland 29 34 — 63
La Crescent 25 22 — 47
Southland scoring: McKendry Kennedy, 30; Kaysie Allen, 25; Lilly Riddles, 4; Gabby Smith, 3; Karina Vasquez, 2; free throws: 71 percent (25-for-35)
